...but it might as well be. I'm in pain!
Last night, I had trouble sleeping. It made sense because I had a long nap yesterday afternoon. Around midnight, though, my throat started hurting really bad--think strep. I finally took some tylenol and fell asleep around 3AM. Then, this morning, I woke up with sinus pressure so bad that it felt like a sinus infection. All that was bad enough, but it peaked around noon with ear pressure so bad I just knew I had an ear infection. I actually called my husband at work and started crying. That is just not me, OK, so you know I was hurting. I think the worst part was feeling so confused, to the point of being scared. I just felt so vulnerable.
Thank goodness (and his boss), Jim could come home soon after and work from home. Well, work from the doctor's office anyway. The clinic told me on Sunday to go see a doctor if the Tamiflu hadn't made me feel much better by Tuesday morning, and this was much worse. The doctor today told me that I had a lot of drainage, which caused the sore throat, and fluid built up behind my ears, causing the ear pain and pain when swallowing. I felt like such a wimp being in agony without even having an infection yet, although the doctor said that was where I was quickly heading without help. She prescribed me a strong decongestant and some antibiotics. I then mentioned I had a six-month-old, and she told me to get him to the pediatrician asap.
We took Andrew in, and he had much more congestion than he did a week ago. They said that he just wasn't fighting it off well enough on his own. We heard a little bit of wheezing Sunday night and yesterday morning, so that made sense. He prescribed an antibiotic and gave us some probiotics.
UGH, I can't wait until we're all feeling better. I don't know what all this is, although I'm guessing it's just a wicked cold that neither Andrew nor I could fight well enough. My immune system post-baby is really weak, although I'm sure it's just like when I was a first-year teacher and sick all the time. I got adjusted then, and I'm sure I'll get adjusted now. Jim's going to work from home for the next day or so until I can take care of Andrew on my own. Right now, I just want to be able to eat a meal without either nausea from drainage or stabbing pain radiating from my ear to my throat. The pain has lessened enough now that I can eat without crying, so we're headed in the right direction.
Please pray for us. I know it's just a cold, but it feels so much worse:-(
